A Personal Journey:

The Story Behind LHCC

The founder of LHCC has head and neck lymphedema following a car accident in 2016.

For years, medical professionals were unable to determine the cause of her symptoms.

It wasn’t until 2021 that she was introduced to Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) therapy by a Certified Lymphatic Therapist.

By that time, her condition had significantly impacted on her ability to think, concentrate, speak, breathe, hear, and even walk at times—symptoms caused by recurring swelling that would return every 24 to 36 hours.

Now, in 2025, managing her condition requires daily exercise, vibration therapy, and resting in specific postures to facilitate lymphatic drainage.

She also undergoes two 90-minute MLD therapy sessions per week.

Because lying flat severely affects her breathing, she must sleep elevated and use a CPAP machine. Living at a high altitude in Calgary and air travel both exacerbate her condition, causing extreme pressure imbalances.

Her journey has been challenging—one that led to the loss of her company and sense of identity. But through perseverance, research, and treatment, she found a path forward.

After seeking care at the Mayo Clinic (MN), Stanford Health (CA), and the Cleveland Clinic (OH), she realized a crucial gap in awareness and resources for Canadians with lymphatic dysfunction.

Determined to ensure that others do not feel lost or unsupported, she helped created Lymphatic Health Canadian Collective —a space for education, advocacy, and connection for individuals navigating similar challenges.

Together, we can build a more informed and supportive community!
